My Halloween costumes, throughout the years

Hello to my ghouls, goblins and ghosts! I mean, friends. :)

In case you haven't realized yet, I lurrrrrrrve everything about fall. Especially Halloween! So, I thought it'd be fun to take you on a trip down memory lane as I share some of my past Halloween costumes. Some, better than others, I'll admit. But, have a look and decide for yourself!

This is (surprisingly) the only photo of any of my high school Halloween costumes that I was able to track down! You haven't lived until you've dressed up as an 80s girl for Halloween. Not very original, but I had fun doing it. :) How awesome is that jean skirt with layers of lace?! And those leg warmers. Dangggg. It's almost as if I grew up in the 80s! ;)

Skip to Sophomore year of college. I was pretty proud of my Waldo costume! I bought a white turtleneck and a white beanie... and I remember I had to get a ride to Menard's (I didn't have a car on campus yet - big inconvenience!) to buy red duct tape. I meticulously wrapped tape around the hat and turtleneck. I bought those goofy big nose/mustache sunglasses and took the nose and mustache parts off, to leave the plain black-rimmed glasses. Just like Waldo wears! ;)

My 2nd favorite costume so far! In case you can't tell, I was an Oompa Loompa. I have NO idea how or why I decided to be an Ooompa Loompa for Halloween this year, but I'm glad I did. People truly got a kick out of it. :) Trying to wash that green out of my hair and orange off of my face was no joy ride, but it was so worth it. I remember having a hard time finding white suspenders and a brown turtleneck, but somehow I managed to find both. Yay!

Award for least creative costume goes to - Cat in the Hat. This was the first time I had ever gone to one of those hokey Halloween costume stores to look for a costume, must have been last minute. ;) All the costume came with was the hat, the scarf and the gloves. I wore black leggings, a black t-shirt, black boots and drew on whiskers with mascara. Seriously, pretty lame!

This was a fun one! Except no one knew what I dressed up as: Madonna, circa 1980. I still loved it! I found that bustier from Charlotte Russe, I already had the lace skirt (I swear, they were in style in 2010!) and I bought black lace tights from Forever 21 and cut holes in them. I piled on layers of pearls, a cross necklace and other jewelry. I found a black bow lace headband from Forever 21 and teased my hair like craaaazy. I found some black lace gloves (I think from a costume shop) and cut off the fingers, painted my nails black, drew on Madonna's infamous beauty mark with mascara, wore fake eyelashes and dark eyeshadow. Seriously, what fun! I wish I could have dressed like this everyday.

I had to include this photo, partially so you could see my tights, but mostly so you could witness my friend Dion's amazing costume. He was a blind referee, and he kept yelling bad calls all night. Too funny!

This was another last-minute costume I put together. My friend Seth asked me to come to a Halloween party with him, with one day's notice! Soooo, I put on a sequined dress from Forever 21, my sparkly "hooker" heels (as I call them), big silver hoops, some bold makeup and called myself Barbie. HAH! You can watch the YouTube video where I describe the outfit in more detail, and had the pleasure of one very nice lady telling me that I was "missing the Barbie body". Rude! Oh well, I'm over it. :)

Aaaaand, now my absolute favorite costume! I have to toot my own horn a little, and say that I'm pretty proud of coming up with this idea. Two years ago, Drew and I dressed up as Wendy Peffercorn and Squints Palledorous from the movie the Sandlot! :) :) :) If you're not familiar with the characters, you need to look them up!!! Ok, so Drew's costume was incredibly easy. We found the glasses at a costume shop (the same place I got the white whistle) and the t-shirt at Marshall's. My swim suit was purchased online, but it has since sold out. But, I just now googled "red halter swim suit" and found a bunch of options! Same goes with the white sunglasses - purchased those online, but I am unable to find them now. Googling "white cat eye sunglasses" should help! :) The only other part of my costume was the red ribbon for my hair, which I just got from a fabric store, and I wore a beach towel when we went out downtown, to keep me warm! I also have a YouTube video describing the costume if you feel like checking that out:

My gosh! This was so long, I'm impressed if you made it through this whole post. :)

Love you all!

- Kace
